Overview
Shri Anandpur Dham, near Isagarh in Ashok Nagar district, Madhya Pradesh, is the principal centre of the Shri Paramhans Advait Mat branch of the Advait Mat tradition. It venerates Shri Swami Advaitanand Ji Maharaj, Paramhans Dayal Ji, as its First Spiritual Master and Swami Swaroopanand Ji Maharaj as the Second, and continues its own succession of masters from the third onwards. This is an ashram and guru-lineage centre rather than a classical Puranic deity temple.
History
The site was established during the second guru's lifetime. Land was purchased on 4 August 1930 by saints and devotees of the tradition, and in 1931 the Second Master visited, fulfilling a promise made years earlier by the First Master. In 1939, the Third Holy Master, recorded on the trust's own site as Shri Paramhans Avataar Ji, took up permanent residence at Shri Anandpur, and the centre grew from there into the headquarters of its branch.
Partition in 1947 severed the tradition from its earliest sites in what became Pakistan, including the first guru's samadhi at Teri and the second guru's birthplace in the same village. Shri Anandpur's position as an established centre already in India shaped its subsequent importance.
Within the wider tradition, Shri Anandpur is remembered as having been built on Swaroopanand Ji's own instruction, with responsibility for it entrusted to Shri Swami Vairagyanand Ji, which is understood as the reason the centre passed into his charge after Swaroopanand Ji's samadhi.
Spiritual Significance
Shri Anandpur is the seat of the Advait Mat Anandpur line, one of the principal lines of the tradition after the second guru. Its succession runs:

- Shri Swami Swaroopanand Ji Maharaj
- Shri Swami Vairagyanand Ji Maharaj, also titled Shri Paramhans Avataar Ji

It is important to understand that this is one of several lines, not the whole tradition. After Swami Swaroopanand Ji Maharaj's samadhi in 1936, the lineage continued along more than one line. Shri Nangli Sahib and the line leading to the Sar Shabd Mission continued under Swami Nijatamanand Ji, while Shri Anandpur continued under Vairagyanand Ji. Further centres, including Satguru Nagar near Nangli in Uttar Pradesh, the Paramhans Satyarthi Mission, and ashrams at Shahpur Kandi near Pathankot in Punjab and at Kurukshetra in Haryana, developed their own lines in turn.
