koṭi-koṭi mama vandanā, koṭi-koṭi praṇāma, ādi brahma pūrṇa puruṣa, śrī satguru sukha dhāma|
Millions upon millions of my salutations, millions upon millions of bows, to the Primal Brahman, the Perfect Being, Shri Satguru, the abode of bliss.
he sat citta ānanda prabhu, śrī advaita ānanda|| aisī kṛpā kījiye, kahahu~ kachuka pada chaṃda,
O Lord of Being, Consciousness and Bliss, Shri Advaitananda, grant me such grace that I may utter a few verses in Your praise.
satguru cālīsā kahū~ śrī svarūpānaṃda mahārāja| jina dīnho jaga tarana ko, so haṃga nāma jahāja||
I recite this Chalisa of the Satguru, Shri Swaroopanand Maharaj, who gave the world the vessel of His holy name to cross over the ocean of existence.
chaupai
paramahaṃsa paramātma rūpā| ādi saccidānanda svarūpā||
Paramhans is the very form of the Supreme Self, the primal embodiment of Sat-Chit-Ananda (being-consciousness-bliss).
pūrana guru dādā guru pāye| sādhu siddha ke bhūpa kahāye||
He attained the perfect Guru through the lineage of his grandfather-Guru, and came to be called the sovereign among saints and the accomplished.
jina yaha nāma ratana pragaṭāyo| kalpa vṛkṣa kali mā~hi lagāyo||
He it was who revealed this jewel of the sacred Name, planting the wish-fulfilling tree even in this age of Kali.
sakala kāmanā pūrana kāmā| ghāṭa kedāra kāśī sukha dhāmā||
He fulfills every wish and desire; He is the abode of bliss, like the sacred ghats of Kedar and Kashi.
dādā guru pitu māta gusāī| vidyā bala mo meṃ kachu nāhīṃ||
O Lord, You are my grandfather-Guru, my father and mother; but I have no learning or strength within me.
kehi vidhi astuti karahū~ tumhārī| veda purāna gaye likha hārī||
How then shall I sing Your praise, when even the Vedas and Puranas grew weary of writing it?
rāma naumi śubha dina pragaṭāye| rāma yāda tulasī gṛha āye||
He appeared on the auspicious day of Ram Navami; remembering Ram, He came to the house of Tulsi.
bāla brahmacārī sanyāsī| rāja-pāṭha te bhaī udāsī||
From childhood a celibate renunciate, He turned away in detachment from royal rule and comfort.
chaparā chappara mahala saba tyāge| dhāra kopīna ḍhā~pa tana bhāge||
He abandoned Chhapra, hut and palace alike, and clad only in a loincloth, went forth covering His body.
jaga pāvana advaitānandā| nāma leta kaṭahiṃ bhava phandā||
He is the purifier of the world, Advaitananda; merely taking His name severs the snare of worldly existence.
bhramaṇa kiye vana nagara anekā| jayapura jāye carana prabhu ṭekā||
He wandered through many forests and cities, and at last set His feet in Jaipur.
prāṇāyāma te dehi uḍa़ānī| pavanā meṃ jaba pavana samānī||
Through pranayama He made His body rise into the air, when His breath merged into the cosmic wind.
dharatī te ūpara rahī dehī| basata dehī meṃ bhaye videhī||
His body remained suspended above the earth; dwelling within the body, He became bodiless in spirit.
jayapura sāṃbara te gaye ṭerī| dayālu karī nahīṃ derī||
From Jaipur, by way of Sambhar, He went on to Teri; the compassionate one made no delay.
ṭerī nagara dekha muskāne| prātaḥkāla jala toya nahāne||
Seeing the town of Teri, He smiled, and at dawn bathed Himself in its waters.
baiṭhai kara snāna jaba dhyānā| paramahaṃsa prabhu turaṃtahi jānā||
After bathing, when He sat in meditation, Paramhans knew all things at once.
hama hūṃ bharama nāhi lakha pāye| kārana kauna terī hama āye||
We too could not fathom the mystery of why we had come to Teri.
terī pahuṃca sojha hama pāī| kula vāsudeva śakti pragaṭāī||
At Teri we found His reach made plain, as the power of the Vasudev lineage was revealed.
satsaṃga sabhā sāyaṃ jaba lāgī| pahuṃce nārī-nara prema anurāgī||
When the evening assembly of satsang began, men and women full of loving devotion gathered there.
lage hovana kīrtana satsaṃgā| saṃśaya bharama bhaye saba bhaṃgā||
The havan, kirtan and satsang commenced, and all doubt and delusion were shattered.
sabhā bīca āyo ika bālaka| vāsudeva kula ko jaga pālaka||
Into the midst of the assembly came a child, the world's protector of the Vasudev lineage.
paramahaṃsa prabhu bole bānī| kara gahi bālaka karata bakhānī||
Paramhans spoke aloud, and holding the child's hand, He began to declare the truth.
ehī bālaka kārana hama āye| chaparā chappara choḍa़ sidhāye||
It was for this very child that we came, leaving Chhapra and hut behind on our journey.
yaha tyāgī tapasī yaha yogī| bheṭahiṃ īśa syo jīva viyogī||
This one is a renunciate, an ascetic, a yogi, who unites with God the soul long separated from Him.
jaga tārana kārana yaha āyo| bhayo pragaṭa nahīṃ kāhu paṭhāyo||
He came for the sake of delivering the world, appearing of His own accord, sent by none.
bhṛkuṭi vilāsa dūja kara candā| sundara rūpa svarūpānandā||
The play of His brow is like the crescent moon of the second lunar day; such is the beautiful form of Swaroopanand.
māyā mohinī rūpa dhara saṃgā| nāsikā tila sājata bāma aṃgā||
He bears too the enchanting form of Maya's illusion, His nose adorned with a mole gracing His left side.
yāṃ ko dhyāna dharahiṃ muni jñānī| suna vāṇī bhūlahiṃ sudha dhyānī||
Wise sages hold Him in meditation; hearing His voice, even the meditator forgets all else.
jehiṃ khojata ṛṣi muni gaye hārī| āja pāye hama uttarādhikārī||
The One whom rishis and sages sought and grew weary searching for, today we have found as our rightful successor.
paramahaṃsa prabhu kī suna bānī| ghara-ghara hovana lāgī kahānī||
Hearing the words of Lord Paramhans, His story began to spread from house to house.
prabhu dayāla gṛha prabhu pragaṭāye| ṭerī nagara māhiṃ prabhu āye||
The merciful Lord manifested in a devotee's home, and the Lord came to the town of Teri.
kauna punya śrī rādhe kīnhoṃ| jāṃki udara vāsa harī līnho||
What merit had Shri Radha earned, that Hari Himself came to dwell within her womb?
ehiṃ bālaka te indra ḍarāyo| būṃda eka barasā nahīṃ pāyo||
This child made even Indra afraid, so that not a single drop of rain could fall near Him.
yogārūḍha़ āsana rahā sūkhā| barasā bādala rukhā-rukhā||
His seat of yogic meditation remained dry, while all around the clouds rained in vain.
nadī canāva meṃ phaṃsī naiyā| pahuṃce turaṃtahi nāva khivaiyā||
A boat lay stranded in the river Chenab; at once the boatman arrived to help.
vinaya sunī sevaka kī jabahiṃ| sṭīmara roka diyā prabhu tabahīṃ||
The moment He heard the devotee's prayer, the Lord brought the steamer to a halt.
guru pūjana ko sevaka āye| aṃga-saṃga sataguru hoya sahāye||
Devotees come to worship the Guru, for the Satguru ever remains at their side to help.
sīmā prāṃta, paṃjāba choḍa़kara| śrī naṃgalī ko dīnhoṃ yaha vara||
Leaving the frontier province and Punjab, He bestowed this boon upon Shri Nangli.
śrī naṃgalī hari ko nija dhāmā| bāra-bāra tohe karahu~ praṇāmā||
Shri Nangli is Hari's own dwelling place; again and again I offer my salutations to you.
dhūli terī mastaka para dhārū~| śrī naṃgalī para tana-mana vārū~||
I place the dust of your feet upon my forehead; I offer body and mind at Shri Nangli.

amṛta srota śrī svarūpa sudhā, haiṃ sataguru ke varadāna| kara snāna jo śravaṇa kareṃ, ho saba kā kalyāṇa|
This nectar-stream, Shri Swaroop Sudha, is the Satguru's own boon; whoever bathes in it by hearing it attains the welfare of all.
tava caranana meṃ ā paḍa़ā, bālaka 'prema' nādāna| bala buddhi vidyā dījiye, nija ātma ko jñāna||
At your feet has fallen this naive child 'Prem'; grant me strength, wisdom and learning, and knowledge of my own true self.
