Overview
Lal Dungri, a hill near Galta Gate on the eastern side of Jaipur, is revered within the Paramhans Advait Mat as the tapo bhumi, the ground of spiritual austerity, of Shri Swami Advaitanand Ji Maharaj. Jaipur is the city where, in 1883, he met his own guru Swami Anandpuri Ji, and the tradition holds that his period of intensive practice took place here. This is a site of ascetic practice rather than a classical Puranic deity temple, though the hill also carries an old Ganesha temple that predates the founding of Jaipur itself.
History
The independently documented fact is the meeting: in 1883, at Jaipur, Advaitanand Ji, then still a wandering seeker who had left Chhapra at about sixteen, met the ninety-year-old Swami Anandpuri Ji, who taught him the kriya of pranayama and yoga and subsequently named him his spiritual successor. That meeting is the hinge of his life and the origin of the Advait Mat lineage, and the reason Jaipur matters in this tradition at all.
Within the tradition, Lal Dungri is identified as the place of his tapasya. Local reporting on the hill's Ganesha temple, which is said to have been built by a Pushkarna Brahmin some seven years before Jaipur was founded, separately records that saints of the Advaita tradition later performed intense penance at the site, which subsequently became a substantial ashram of that tradition. The two accounts are consistent, though no source consulted names Advaitanand Ji at Lal Dungri explicitly.
Spiritual Significance
In the arc of the first guru's life, Jaipur is the turning point: the place where a wandering seeker became a disciple, and where the practice that produced the lineage was undertaken. Together with his birthplace at Chhapra and his samadhi at Teri, the tapo bhumi completes the three principal locations of his life, and it is the one associated with attainment rather than with birth or death.

The connection is biographical and devotional rather than textual. The guru succession invoked in the Nangli Nitya Niyam prayer NN002, which names Anandpuri before Advait and Swarupa, reflects the Jaipur meeting directly.
