kṣīra siṃdhu jaba viṣṇu mathāyo | caudaha ratna siṃdhu meṃ pāyo ||
When Vishnu churned the milky ocean, fourteen jewels were found within it.
caudaha ratna meṃ tuma sukharāsī | sevā kiyo prabhuhiṃ bani dāsī ||

Whenever and wherever the Lord took birth, You too took a changed form to serve Him.
svayaṃ viṣṇu jaba nara tanu dhārā | līnheu avadhapurī avatārā ||
When Vishnu Himself took human form and descended in the city of Ayodhya,

vipra bolāya kai pāṭha karāvai | śaṃkā dila meṃ kabhī na lāvai ||
let them call a learned Brahmin and have this recited, never letting doubt enter their heart.
pāṭha karāvai dina cālīsā | tā para kṛpā karaiṃ gaurīsā ||
Let them have the Chalisa recited for forty days; upon them Shiva Himself shows His grace.

Hail, hail, hail, O Great Queen Lakshmi, pervading all, the mine of virtue.
tumharo teja prabala jaga māhīṃ | tuma sama kou dayāla kahūṃ nāhīṃ ||

Without Your sight I, Your servant, am restless; I bear great sorrow, though blameless.
nahiṃ mohiṃ jñāna buddhi hai tana meṃ | saba jānata ho apane mana meṃ ||
I have no knowledge or wisdom within me; You know it all in Your own mind.
rūpa caturbhuja karake dhāraṇa | kaṣṭa mora aba karahu nivāraṇa ||
Assume Your four-armed form; remove my troubles now.
kahi prakāra maiṃ karauṃ bar̤āī | jñāna buddhi mohiṃ nahiṃ adhikāī ||
In what way shall I sing Your praise? I have no abundance of knowledge or wisdom.
rāmadāsa aba kahai pukārī | karo dūra tuma vipati hamārī ||
Ramdas now calls out and prays: take away all my adversity.
