doha

मनु मय त्वष्टा विश्वकर्मा, शिल्प कर्म आधार । तीन लोक चौदह भुवन, करनी का विस्तार ॥

manu maya tvaṣṭā viśvakarmā, śilpa karma ādhāra | tīna loka caudaha bhuvana, karanī kā vistāra ||

Manu, Maya, Tvashta, Vishwakarma: the foundation of all craft and skill; the expanse of Your handiwork spans the three worlds and fourteen realms.

soratha

प्रत्न सुपर्ण महाराज, सनग सनातन अहिभून । शिल्पन के सरताज, आदि शिल्प के गुरु तुम ॥

pratna suparṇa mahārāja, sanaga sanātana ahibhūna | śilpana ke saratāja, ādi śilpa ke guru tuma ||

Ancient supreme eagle, great king; Sanaga, eternal, kinless one; crown of craftsmen; You are the primordial teacher of craft.

जगत गुरु जग ईश पियारे । विश्वकर्मा महाराज हमारे ॥

jagata guru jaga īśa piyāre | viśvakarmā mahārāja hamāre ||

Teacher of the world, beloved lord of the world; O Vishwakarma, our great king.

देव दनुज सबके दुख टारे । दीनन के तुम हो रखवारे ॥

deva danuja sabake dukha ṭāre | dīnana ke tuma ho rakhavāre ||

You dispel the sorrows of gods and demons alike; You are the guardian of the humble.

जल, थल, पर्वत और अकाशा । चान्द सूर्य नित करहिं प्रकाशा ॥

jala, thala, parvata aura akāśā | cānda sūrya nita karahiṃ prakāśā ||

Water, earth, mountain and sky; the moon and sun continually shine by Your ordinance.

नाथ तुम्हारी अद्भुत करनी । महिमा अमित जाहि नहिं बरनी ॥

nātha tumhārī adbhuta karanī | mahimā amita jāhi nahiṃ baranī ||

Lord, Your deeds are wondrous; Your immeasurable glory cannot be described.

सृष्टि आदि कर्ता हो स्वामी । बार बार है तुम्हें नमामी ॥

sṛṣṭi ādi kartā ho svāmī | bāra bāra hai tumheṃ namāmī ||

You are the creator at the dawn of creation, Master; again and again I bow to You.

भव निधि पड़े बहुत दुख पाये । सब तजि शरन तुम्हारी आये ॥

bhava nidhi par̤e bahuta dukha pāye | saba taji śarana tumhārī āye ||

Fallen into the ocean of worldly existence, we have suffered much sorrow; abandoning all else, we have come to Your refuge.

जप तप भजन न होय गोसाईम् । बन्धे कीट मर्कट की नाईम् ॥

japa tapa bhajana na hoya gosāīm | bandhe kīṭa markaṭa kī nāīm ||

Without penance, austerity or worship, O Lord, we are bound like an insect in a spider's web.

बन्धन छोर हमें अपनाओ । निज चरणों का दास बनाओ ॥

bandhana chora hameṃ apanāo | nija caraṇoṃ kā dāsa banāo ||

Loosen these bonds and accept us as Your own; make us servants of Your own feet.

जयति जयति विश्वकर्मा स्वामी । मम उर बसहु नाथ विज्ञानी ॥

jayati jayati viśvakarmā svāmī | mama ura basahu nātha vijñānī ||

Victory, victory to Master Vishwakarma; dwell in my heart, O all-knowing Lord.

सुमिरन भजन तुम्हारा भावै । बुरे कर्म से मन हट जावै ॥

sumirana bhajana tumhārā bhāvai | bure karma se mana haṭa jāvai ||

Remembrance and devotion to You feel right; the mind turns away from wrong deeds.

साधु सन्त के तुम रखवारे । भक्त जनन के प्राण पियारे ॥

sādhu santa ke tuma rakhavāre | bhakta janana ke prāṇa piyāre ||

You are the guardian of saints and sages; You are the beloved life-breath of Your devotees.

स्वारथ वश तब भक्ति बिसारी । नाथ पड़ा हूं शरण तुम्हारी ॥

svāratha vaśa taba bhakti bisārī | nātha par̤ā hūṃ śaraṇa tumhārī ||

Bound by self-interest I forgot devotion; Lord, I have now fallen at Your refuge.

तुमहिं भजै अक्षय सुख पावै । जन्म जन्म के दुःख बिनसावै ॥

tumahiṃ bhajai akṣaya sukha pāvai | janma janma ke duḥkha binasāvai ||

Whoever worships You attains eternal happiness; the sorrows of birth after birth are destroyed.

पुरवहु नाथ मनोरथ मोरा । मन क्रम वचन दास मैं तोरा ॥

puravahu nātha manoratha morā | mana krama vacana dāsa maiṃ torā ||

Fulfil my heart's wish, O Lord; in mind, deed and word I am Your servant.

एक लालसा यही हमारी । केवल भक्ती चहौं तिहारी ॥

eka lālasā yahī hamārī | kevala bhaktī cahauṃ tihārī ||

This alone is my one longing: I seek only Your devotion.

मङ्गल करन अमङ्गल हारी । त्रिभुवन महिमा विदित तुम्हारी ॥

maṅgala karana amaṅgala hārī | tribhuvana mahimā vidita tumhārī ||

Bringer of blessing, remover of misfortune; Your glory is known throughout the three worlds.

आरत-हरण भक्त भय हारी । शरण शरण मैं शरण तिहारी ॥

ārata-haraṇa bhakta bhaya hārī | śaraṇa śaraṇa maiṃ śaraṇa tihārī ||

Remover of affliction, dispeller of Your devotees' fear; refuge, refuge, I am at Your refuge.

तुम सबके गुरु सबके स्वामी । तुम सबहीं के अन्तरवामी ॥

tuma sabake guru sabake svāmī | tuma sabahīṃ ke antaravāmī ||

You are the teacher of all, the lord of all; You are the inner knower of all beings.

सर्व शक्ति तुम सब आधारा । तुमहिं भजै सो उतरहिं पारा ॥

sarva śakti tuma saba ādhārā | tumahiṃ bhajai so utarahiṃ pārā ||

All power rests in You, the support of all; whoever worships You crosses to the other shore.

घट घट माहिं तुम्हारो बासा । सर्व ठौर जिमि दीप प्रकाशा ॥

ghaṭa ghaṭa māhiṃ tumhāro bāsā | sarva ṭhaura jimi dīpa prakāśā ||

In every vessel is Your dwelling; everywhere Your light shines like a lamp.

यह विधि तुमको जानै कोई । भक्त अरु जानी कहिए सोई ॥

yaha vidhi tumako jānai koī | bhakta aru jānī kahie soī ||

Who can know this method of Yours? Only a devotee, or a knower, can say.

जगत पिता तुमहीं हो ईशा । याते हम विनवत जगदीशा ॥

jagata pitā tumahīṃ ho īśā | yāte hama vinavata jagadīśā ||

You alone are the father of the world, its lord; therefore we pray to You, Lord of the world.

नाथ कृपा अब हम पर कीजै । भक्ति आपनी हमको दीजै ॥

nātha kṛpā aba hama para kījai | bhakti āpanī hamako dījai ||

Lord, show grace upon us now; grant us Your own devotion.

प्रेम भक्ति बिनु कृपा न होई । सर्व शास्त्र में देखै जोई ॥

prema bhakti binu kṛpā na hoī | sarva śāstra meṃ dekhai joī ||

Without loving devotion, grace does not come; this is seen in every scripture.

कर्म योग कर सेवत कोई । ज्यों सेदै त्यों ही गति होई ॥

karma yoga kara sevata koī | jyoṃ sedai tyoṃ hī gati hoī ||

Whoever serves You through the path of action attains a state matching their service.

जो हरि ज्योति आप प्रगटाई । घर घर में सोई दरशाई ॥

jo hari jyoti āpa pragaṭāī | ghara ghara meṃ soī daraśāī ||

Whatever light of the divine You Yourself manifest, that alone is revealed in every home.

तुम सब ठौर सबन ते न्यारे । को लखि सके चरित्र तुम्हारे ॥

tuma saba ṭhaura sabana te nyāre | ko lakhi sake caritra tumhāre ||

You are present everywhere, yet apart from all; who can perceive Your true character?

तुम सबके प्रभु अन्तरयामी । जीव बिसर रहे तुमको स्वामी ॥

tuma sabake prabhu antarayāmī | jīva bisara rahe tumako svāmī ||

You are the Lord of all, the inner knower; living beings forget You, O Master.

विश्वकर्मा को जो कोई ध्यावै । होय मुक्ति जीवन फल पावै ॥

viśvakarmā ko jo koī dhyāvai | hoya mukti jīvana phala pāvai ||

Whoever meditates upon Vishwakarma attains liberation and the fruit of life.

डूब न जावे नाव हमारी । हम आये हैं शरण तुम्हारी ॥

ḍūba na jāve nāva hamārī | hama āye haiṃ śaraṇa tumhārī ||

Let our boat not sink; we have come to Your refuge.

हम सेवक हैं नाथ तुम्हारे । भव सागर से करौ किनारे ॥

hama sevaka haiṃ nātha tumhāre | bhava sāgara se karau kināre ||

We are Your servants, Lord; carry us across the ocean of worldly existence.

सुत पितु मातु न कोई सङ्घाती । सब तजि भजन करहुं दिन राती ॥

suta pitu mātu na koī saṅghātī | saba taji bhajana karahuṃ dina rātī ||

Son, father, mother - none is a true companion; abandoning all, let us worship day and night.

दीनबन्धु दीनन हितकारी । शरण पड़ा हूं नाथ तुम्हारी ॥

dīnabandhu dīnana hitakārī | śaraṇa par̤ā hūṃ nātha tumhārī ||

Friend of the humble, benefactor of the poor; I have fallen at Your refuge, Lord.

विश्वकर्मा ही ब्रह्म कहावै । विश्वकर्मा सब सृष्टि रचावै ॥

viśvakarmā hī brahma kahāvai | viśvakarmā saba sṛṣṭi racāvai ||

Vishwakarma alone is called Brahma; Vishwakarma fashions all of creation.

पढ़ै जो विश्वकर्मा चालीसा । सुफल काज हों बीसों बीसा ॥

par̤hai jo viśvakarmā cālīsā | suphala kāja hoṃ bīsoṃ bīsā ||

Whoever recites the Vishwakarma Chalisa, all their tasks bear abundant fruit.

चालिस दिन जो ध्यान लगावै । राजद्रोह से मुक्ति पावै ॥

cālisa dina jo dhyāna lagāvai | rājadroha se mukti pāvai ||

Whoever holds this meditation for forty days attains freedom from betrayal by the state.

भूत प्रेत नहिं उनहिं सतावै । चालीसा में जो मन लावै ॥

bhūta preta nahiṃ unahiṃ satāvai | cālīsā meṃ jo mana lāvai ||

Ghosts and spirits do not trouble those who set their mind upon this Chalisa.

धूप देय अरु जपै हमेशा । फिर नहिं पावै दुःख लवलेशा ॥

dhūpa deya aru japai hameśā | phira nahiṃ pāvai duḥkha lavaleśā ||

Whoever offers incense and always recites, never again meets even a trace of sorrow.

जो कोई अक्षत पुष्प चढ़ावे । होय मुक्त जग फिर नहिं आवै ॥

jo koī akṣata puṣpa car̤hāve | hoya mukta jaga phira nahiṃ āvai ||

Whoever offers unbroken rice and flowers is liberated and does not return to this world.

उसके जीवन का रखवारा । रहे नित्य विश्वकर्मा प्यारा ॥

usake jīvana kā rakhavārā | rahe nitya viśvakarmā pyārā ||

The guardian of that person's life remains ever the beloved Vishwakarma.

सकल पदारथ करतल ताके । बसै ह्रदय विश्वकर्मा जाके ॥

sakala padāratha karatala tāke | basai hradaya viśvakarmā jāke ||

All treasures rest in the palm of one whose heart holds Vishwakarma.

doha

आदि सृष्टि आधार तुम, रचना विविध प्रकार । नाथ तुम्हारी कृपा बिन, केहि विधि उतरूं पार ॥

ādi sṛṣṭi ādhāra tuma, racanā vividha prakāra | nātha tumhārī kṛpā bina, kehi vidhi utarūṃ pāra ||

You are the foundation of the primal creation, its manifold form; without Your grace, Lord, by what means shall I cross to the other side?

हाथ जोड़ विनती करूं, धरुं चरण माथ । पूर्ण होय मम कामना, यह वर दीजै कर्तार ॥

hātha jor̤a vinatī karūṃ, dharuṃ caraṇa mātha | pūrṇa hoya mama kāmanā, yaha vara dījai kartāra ||

With folded hands I make this prayer, my head bowed at Your feet; may my wish be fulfilled - grant me this boon, O Creator.
